The Rockville Rock Hounds Baseball club has seen some great players come through the past few years. UNLV's Max Smith, the 2017 Hounds MVP and California Collegiate League All-Star, is off to a hot start for the Rebels. Max is hitting .371 with 4 HR and 16 RBI. Willy Homza, the Solano Invitational MVP, is hitting .200 with a HR, three doubles and 3 RBI through Brown University's first 8 games.
Pitcher Carson Haws, the Hounds 2017 pitcher of the year, leads Easter Illinois University in strikeouts (23) and innings pitched (21). Tyler Stover's Ragin Cajun squad opened up at the University of Texas, with Louisiana taking the final game of the series. Stover made the game saving play on a dive to his right to save the tying run from scoring. He also had the biggest at bat of the weekend, driving a bases loaded line drive to right-center field to tie the game and bring the go-ahead run to 3rd.
Grant St. Martin, another California Collegiate League All-star, has 3 HR of his first 4 hits. He also leads the Sonoma State pitching staff with a 0.00 era and averages a strikeout per inning. Outfielder Dominic Foscalina leads the University of Utah in home runs and RBI. He is 3rd in hitting with a .283 average.
