The Solano County Invitational Collegiate Tournament is off to a great start, with some close, competitive games. At the risk of being redundant, the tourney features what could be considered two Cinderella stories. The Fairfield Indians and NBO Baseball are both 2-1 in pool play and brought some of the youngest rosters, with Fairfield starting two pitchers who graduated high school this past June. The two teams await their fate, with three other teams still having games to play that can affect NBO and Fairfield's seeding.
The top 4 seeded teams advance to the playoff round, with seeds #5 and #6 playing the consolation game. The last seed does not get an additional game. The tie breakers are head to head, then runs allowed. The Sierra Nevada Wolves and West Coast Kings are fighting for survival, with both teams 0-2 in pool play. The Kings finish up with Auburn (1-0), while the Wolves play host Rockville Rock Hounds (2-0). The rest of the standings have the Solano Mudcats at 1-1, who play the final pool play game of the tournament vs Auburn tomorrow at 4:30pm.
