Hounds Take Season Finale vs Crawdads, Win 6 Out of 8 in Series

July 21, 2017

Rockville: The Rockville Rock Hounds played their season series finale vs the Walnut Creek Crawdads Thursday afternoon, winning the contest 15-13. The Hounds trailed 2-0, before an offensive outburst, scoring 15 runs in innings 3-7. With the Rock Hounds leading 15-4 heading into the ninth inning, the Crawdads clawed back, in part by two key Hounds errors and a few free passes. Walnut Creek scored 9 runs, on six hits, and got the potential tying run up to the plate, before a ground out ended the contest.

The Hounds won, despite issuing 12 walks and committing 4 errors. Once again, Max Smith (UNLV) shined, going 4x6 with a home run, double, and 3 RBI. It was Smith's 6th HR of the summer, and his team leading 24th RBI. Kyle Krebs was perfect at the plate, going 3x3 with a double, triple, two walks, and 3 RBI. Willy Homza and Mickey Nunes each collected 3 hits, with the latter driving in a pair.

The Hounds travel to Oakland for a 2 game series with the Neptune Beach Pearl on Friday and Saturday. Alex Pham (USF) will start Friday night, with Carson Haws (Eastern Illinois) getting the start on Saturday.
