The California Collegiate League played it's annual all-star game Tuesday night, at the Urban Youth Academy, in Los Angeles, CA. Although the Rockville Rock Hounds only sent two participants to the contest, the duo of Max Smith (UNLV) and Grant St. Martin (Sonoma St.) did more than their part. In a game that saw the North losing to the South 8-4, the two bashers for the Hounds (who are responsible for 13 of the Hounds 30 HR this season) collected 2 of the North's 9 hits in the game, and drove in half of the North's runs. In the bottom of the 1st inning, St. Martin hit a 2-run double to give the North an early 2-0 lead. St. Martin would finish the game 1 for 2, with the double, 2 RBI and a walk.
Max Smith entered the game in the top of the 6th inning, with the North trailing 4-3. After a two out single, Smith extended the inning by hitting a two out single of his own to left field, setting up an RBI single by the North, to tie the game. The South would score 4 unanswered runs, to secure the victory. The Hounds all-stars finished 2 for 3, with a double, a walk, and 2 RBI. The Rock Hounds continue CCL play, hosting the Neptune Beach Pearl in a three game series this Friday and Saturday. Alex Pham, Carson Haws, and Rylan Haney are the projected starters for the Hounds.
