The Rockville Rock Hounds won their first CCL series of the season, defeating the Walnut Creek Crawdads 3 out 4 times over the weekend. In Thursday's game, the Hounds routed the Crawdads 15-5. Alex Pham (USF) pitched six solid innings to record the win.
On Friday the Rock Hounds got up early, but the Crawdads crept back. Grant St. Martin (Sonoma State) pitched in with a towering home run, then threw the 9th inning to
record the save. He has thrown 3 innings this year, striking out all 9 outs recorded.
On Saturday the Crawdads got the best of Rockville, by jumping out to a early lead, holding on for a 9-3 victory. Jack Pridy highlighted the Hounds, collecting a couple hits and driving in two.
In the series finale, host Rockville jumped out to a 5 run lead after 4 innings, and held on for a 7-0 lead. No Rock Hound recorded more than one hit, but the pitching was story with Carson Haws (Eastern Illinois), Kirby Broadbent, and Daniel Page combining for the shut out. Haws recorded his first win of the season, striking out 9 Crawdads, while Page tossed the final 3 innings to record his first save.
The Rock Hounds have Monday off before they start their six game week. They will play single games with Pacific Union and Walnut Creek before opening up a 4-game series with the Auburn Wildcats. The Hounds will host the Cats on Thursday & Saturday.
