The Solano Invitational kicked off the first of 13 games this week, with a thriller between two regional teams. The Solano Mudcats, out of Vacaville, took on the West Coast Kings of Pleasant Hill. The West Coast Kings broke a 1-1 tie in the 3rd inning with two runs, capped off by a pair of RBI singles by Soderman and Peretti. The Kings held on for the victory, but the Mudcats did not go down easy. Mudcats first baseman Jaden Lane reached on an error, then after two outs infielder Nolan Burr walked and lead off hitter Joe Morris was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Pinch hitter Jared Vitug came up with the tying run at second and the go-ahead run at first. Vitug battled to work a 3-2 count, before striking out to end the game.
Both teams play again tomorrow, with the Kings playing the Sacramento M's at 2:00pm. The Mudcats will take on the Auburn Wildcats in the 5:00pm game. Both tonight's game and tomorrow's 5pm game are broadcasted by SCSN TV. For a look at the full tv schedule, and all of your tournament needs, go to rockhoundsbaseball.com.
