It's never easy to win on the road, and even harder after a 5 hour drive up HWY 101. Last night the Rally Factory Rock Hounds showed their "Car-lag" in a 9-2 loss. Tonight, although not the cleanest game, the Hounds pulled out a 7-4 victory in front of a big crowd in Arcata. Jake Fromson (Missiouri State) hurled 6 1/3 innings for the Hounds, allowing only one earned run, and striking out five. He did issue three walks, although if you listened to the You Tube live stream broadcast, you would have heard the home team announcers wonder why Fromson wasn't getting more strikes called. The voices of the Crabs, although sometimes inappropriate, voiced their opinion on how much the umpire was "sqeezing" Fromson. They even went as far as yelling out from the press box to the umpire in questioning a call. Despite the disagreement, the games are still decided on the field. Fromson, along with reliever Jae Wagner, were able to navigate through a less desirable Hounds defense to limit the strong Crab's offense. Two of the Crabs four runs were unearned.
Jedd Fagg led the way for the Rock Hounds offense, who had four of the Hounds 12 hits. Infielders Joey Dodson and Jack Pridy collected 3 hits a piece.. The Rock Hounds improved to 15-18, while the Crabs fell to 25-13. The two teams meet tomorrow at 12:30pm for the rubber match.
