Hounds Finish Strong Over Cats

July 7, 2016

The Rally Factory Rock Hounds traveled to Auburn Wednesday night to take on the Wildcats, in the final meeting between the two teams this summer. Ryan Pearman stole the show, by tossing 5 1/3 innings out of the Rock Hounds bullpen. Pearman came on in the 4th inning to get a 2-out strike out with two runners on base. After that he allowed only 5 runners in the final five innings, striking out eight total Wildcats.

Starting pitcher Kellen Sillanpaa had a rough 1st inning, which saw few hard hit balls and some soft contact. Sillanpaa pitched well over the next 2 1/3, but his pitch count did not allow for him to continue. The Rock Hounds collected 12 hits in the contest. Chase Grant, Matt Campos, Hank Pankratz, and Joey Dodson had 2 hits a piece, with Pankratz and Dodson driving in the bulk of the runs.

The Rock Hounds have a light Fourth of July week. They take tomorrow off, then travel to Menlo park to take on the Legends on Friday. Jake Fromson (Missouri State) will get the start for the Rock Hounds.
