Rock Hounds Get Strong Pitching

June 29, 2016

The Rally Factory Rock Hounds got arguably the best pitching performance from start to finish this season. Kellen Sillanpaa pitched 5 very solid innings to earn the victory. Sillanpaa gave up one unearned run, on two hits. He struck out three and walked none. He only needed 55 pitches to earn his 2nd win of the season. He has allowed only 1 earned run in 20 innings pitched this summer, with 15 strikeouts to 6 walks. Jackson Gentes came in and threw the final 4 innings to earn his first save of the season. Gentes allowed no runs on one hit, walking and striking out one a piece.

The Hounds did not collect a great number of hits, but did make the best of them. Sophomore Evan Faccenda's one out triple served as the key blow of the game. After a Dawson Bacho RBI single, Faccenda tripled down the right field line, to score Bacho. One pitch later Faccenda scored on a sacrifice fly to left field, off the bat of Chase Grant. Faccenda finished the day going 2 for 3, with a triple, RBI, and a run scored. Garlind Webster's 2-out RBI double late in the game was the icing on the cake. The Rock Hounds also were 4 of 5 on stolen bases tonight, and 3 of their 7 hits were for extra bases.

The Hounds finish the second half of this short home and home series tomorrow at Will C. Wood High School. Dustin Labit will get his team leading 5th start of the summer. He has 14 strike outs in 14 innings for the Rock Hounds. First pitch is 5pm.
