Rock Hounds Get Swept in Healdsburg

June 27, 2016

The Rally Factory Rock Hounds were swept this weekend in a short two game series at the Healdsburg Prune Packers. On Saturday, starter Josh Moore was perfect through the first three innings before the Prune Packers put up a 5-run 4th inning. The inning saw a HR, 2B, and an infield error. Moore did settle down and allow only 4 earned runs  through 6 innings, striking out 4 and walking none. The lone run by the Hounds came on a 2-out RBI single by Joey Dodson.

Sunday's game had a similar feel as well. Starter Jake Fromson cruised through the first 3 innings as well, then after some mis-plays in the infield gave up an unearned run in the 4th. The wheels came off in the 5th inning for the Rock Hounds, where they gave up 9 runs on 5 errors in the frame. In all, the Hounds committed 8 errors on the day. "It's a tough pill to swallow", said General Manager Scott Stover. "We have been missing guys at key positions for some time now." The Rock Hounds have been without infielders Matt Campos and Garlind Webster. Campos has been out with a mild AC sprain and Webster had been on official recruiting visits to 4-year schools. He recently committed to Eastern New Mexico. The two are hitting .419 between them, but have only played in 8 of the Rock Hounds 20 games to date. The Rock Hounds are also nursing minor injuries in the outfield and behind the plate. "It's been some what of a Mash unit in the training room this summer" uttered Stover. "We are confident that with most of these guys getting healthy soon you will see the competitive team that we put together."

The Rock Hounds have a busy week coming up. On Tuesday they open up a home and home with the Solano Mudcats, then host the West Coast Kings on Friday. They travel to Novato to take on the Knicks in a Saturday double header. Tuesday's game will be broadcasted by SCSN. First pitch is 5pm.
