Rock Hounds Collect Another Road Win

June 16, 2016

The Rally Factory Rock Hounds traveled to Alameda, CA to take on the Alameda Merchants, where they defeated the Merchants 10-7. The Rock Hounds did a little bit of everything tonight, in recording the victory. The offense was lead by Sophomore Kirby Broadbent. Broadbent, an uncommitted first baseman out of American River College, was 2 for 5 at the plate, with a HR and 4 runs batted in. His 2-run shot in the 2nd inning, put the Hounds up 3-2, then in the top of the 9th inning he put the icing on the cake. After two quick outs, Tyler Stover hit his team leading second triple, and Evan Faccenda followed with a 2-out walk. After Faccenda stole second, Broadbent hit a 2-out, 2-run RBI single up the middle. It served as a key blow, with the Rock Hounds allowing 2 unearned runs in the bottom of the 9th.

Starter Dustin Labit pitched 5 solid innings to earn the win. He allowed no earned runs, scattered five hits, while allowing only one walk to his five strike outs.  Jackson Gentes pitched a scoreless 1 1/3 innings out of the pen, while Jae Wagner struck out three batters in the 9th.

The Rock Hounds climb to 6-6, in this early season. They travel to the Auburn Wildcats Thursday and Friday night, then host the Cats Saturday and Sunday at Yarbrough Stadium on the campus of Solano College. Both home games are at 1pm.
