The Rally Factory Rock Hounds won their season opener on the road at the Redding Colt 45's. In front of close to a sold out crowd, the Rock Hounds scored 11 runs in the last three innings, en route to a 12-10 victory at Tiger field, in Redding. Trailing 7-5 in the top of the ninth, Rally Factory scored 7 runs, and held on, despite a 3 run rally by the 45's in the bottom half. Ryan Pearman (1-0) earned the win in relief, while Josh Moore (1) earned the save.
Rally Factory scored the first run in the first, with a 2-out RBI single by Tyler Stover. After the Rock Hounds allowed 7 unanswered runs, they chipped away scoring three runs in the 7th, capped off by a 2-run Home Run by Hank Pankratz, and an RBI single by Kirby Broadbent in the 8th.
The 9th inning saw 12 Rock Hounds come to the plate. The offense collected 7 runs on 4 hits and were capped off by a key lead off single/hustle double by Hank Pankratz. Joey Dodson and Jack Pridy laid down key bunts that forced pressure on a 45's defense, that appeared to be on their heels. The Rock Hounds added an RBI fielders choice, tuned error, off the bat of Tyler Stover, a sacrifice fly from Chase Grant, and an RBI single by Hank Pankratz.
The 45's did not go quietly in the night. They scored 3 runs on 2 hits, before Josh Moore came in and struck out the only two Colt 45's he faced, not allowing the tying run to ever reach base, and cementing the victory for the Rock Hounds.
The two teams will meet again tomorrow night at 7:15. Carson Haws will get the ball for Rally Factory.
