Rock Hounds Open Up Season Strong

The Rally Factory Rock Hounds 19u Team opened up their season with a 7-2 win at the Laurel Creek Park Monday night. In an exhibition style game vs the Fairfield Expos, the Rock Hounds had 6 pitchers come together to allow only 2 runs on 3 hits.  Conner Caporale (Dixon High) started the game, pitching 3 scoreless frames, allowing no runs, on 2 hits, striking out 3. John Betz (Wood High) and Evan Thelen (Vacaville High) each threw a scoreless inning, while left-handers Nathan Gutierrez (American Canyon), and Nick Roach (Wood High) combined to throw the final 4 innings, striking out 8 batters. Caporale earned the win in the all-staff effort. 


Offensively, the Rock Hounds did not disappoint. In a game that saw every player get at bats, Rally Factory scored 7 runs on 14 hits. Dylan Nielsen (Wood High) led the offense, going 3 for 4, while score a Rock Hound run. Robert Lewis (Wood High), Junior Ortega (Fairfield High), and Quinlan Sweany had two hits a piece, with Lewis and Sweany driving in a run. The Rock Hounds will take the next week off for finals. Their hope opener is Saturday, June 4 versus the Contra Costa Gladiators.
